Talema Toroidal Transformer Series Guide

Talema designs and manufactures an extensive range of 50/60 Hz toroidal transformers. In this article, we will discuss each of the main series in the Talema catalog to help you make the best selection for your application. Each series is designed with specific characteristics to suit a wide range of applications.

Toroidal transformers offer many desirable characteristics, such as low noise, low stray-field, smaller size, reduced weight, and higher efficiency, which may be required or desirable in many products. Unique design and mounting options determine these characteristics in each series.

Across our standard range, we use grain-oriented silicon steel (GOSS) cores. All GOSS cores are manufactured and annealed in-house.

All parts are manufactured using UL/CSA listed materials and are fully RoHS and REACH compliant.

• Isolation transformers up to 7.5 KVA
• Autotransformers up to 25 KVA
• Maximum primary and secondary voltage 600 V for UL approval
• Maximum primary voltage 440 V for EN/IEC approval
• Maximum secondary voltage 250 V for EN/IEC approval

Transformers for Medical and Dental Equipment

• Isolation transformers up to 15 KVA
• Autotransformers up to 40 KVA
• Maximum primary and Secondary voltage 600 V for UL approval

Customization options

• Electrical: Wide input/output specifications, efficiency, class of insulation, duty cycle, DC output, low magnetizing inrush, overload and short-circuit protections, etc.
• Physical dimensions: Specific diameter and height, extremely flat in dimensions
• Mounting style: Open, encapsulated, centre potted, captive inserts, DIN rail mounting, PCB mounting, lifting hooks/eyebolts, special mounting plates, etc.
• Connections: Special cables, sleeving, lead lengths, leads twisting, connectors, etc.

Product Safety Approvals

Talema has invested considerable time and effort to obtain “family approvals” enabling automatic recognition of custom transformers without having to send each new design to a certified test facility for approval, saving the customer both time and money. Our catalog contains UL-recognized components, DEKRA approvals to European standards, and IEC CB certificates for worldwide approvals.
